郭南宏涉足武侠片领域是在《龙门客栈》在台湾掀起武侠片热潮之后。郭南宏虽然十年来都是执导文艺片，却应时改变风格，导演了武侠片《一代剑王》，影片由台湾首席武侠明星田鹏和上官灵凤主演，结果一鸣惊人。这部票房大卖的武侠片使郭南宏成为继张彻、胡金诠之后，香港电影市场上第三位“百万导演”。影片也成为台湾国语武侠电影的代表作之一。 《一代剑王》是部没有明确时代背景的古装刀剑武侠片，在这部片里，他起用了当时的影坛新人田鹏担任第一男主角。影片讲述武林各派之间的恩怨，故事比较俗套，但是由于武打设计是按照《大醉侠》等新派武侠的路子来走，将北派动作和日本武士片的武打动作相结合，观众倒也看着新鲜有趣。。SYNOPSIS Urgently called, the police inspector has arrived in a hotel, and didn't find any crime, but noticed some strangenesses occurring there. (Strugatsky Brothers website) NOTES This is a crime / mystery thriller with surreal and psychedelic science fiction overtones based on a book Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle by the Strugatsky brothers. The screenplay was also written by the brothers and it differs from the book. The less you know about the movie the better starting point you have. The film is based largely on the mystery of what's happening to the people of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Is everything what it seems?
