Telling the story of the famous designer's extraordinary life, remarkable artistry a...。『発明BOYカニパン』の続編で、前作から5年後という設定である。レギュラーキャラクターは思春期世代になり、キャラクターデザインも一新され頭身が延びた。当初は前作のようなコメディ、特にラブコメを散りばめた構成だったが、次第にかなりシリアスなストーリー展開へ進んでいった。 今作を中心にCD・コミック連載・ゲームソフト発売を軸にしたメディアミックスが展開され、本放送時にはドリームキャストの拡販を目論んでいたセガ・エンタープライゼスをメインスポンサーに迎えた。その為劇中にもドリームキャストのメモリーカードが登場する。。
