影片改编自曹禺的同名话剧，以沪剧艺术为体裁，讲述了煤矿主周朴园专制、伪善，在他的控制下，周家变成了压制人性的枯井，最终，多年的积怨在雷雨之夜爆发，酿成了无法挽回的悲剧。。Restoration carried out by the National Museum of Singapore and the World Cinema Foundation.
