故事开始于1937年的大阪，铃木重三郎（井之原快彦饰）是大阪理科大学的助教，和妻子诚子（上户彩饰）结婚10年，可两人并没有孩子，因为诚子不能够生育。然而，这点并没有困扰这对夫妇，他们之间的感情依然非常的恩爱。然而，诚子始终都想要感受一下成为母亲的感觉，于是，她打算前往孤儿院领养那里的孩子。 在诚子的决定面前，重三郎第一次对妻子的选择产生了犹豫，因为在他的内心深处，实际上还并没有做好成为一名父亲的准备。最终，一个名为浩太（柳下晃河饰）的孩子来到了铃木家中。刚开始，重三郎对于浩太的出现完全无法适应，但渐渐的，他身为人父的责任感令他和浩太的关系走上了正轨。。When the famous outlaw Henry Baker is released from prison after 25 years, old friends and enemies are waiting for him.
