This story relates to our lives as we strive to do our best, not just in sports, school but also relationships between friends...。五年前，一系列模仿名画场景的连环杀人案轰动纽约城，警探斯坦（Willem Dafoe 饰）受命调查此案，然而却迟迟没有进展，令其饱受舆论压力。斯坦以少女克莉斯特（Samantha MacIvor 饰）作诱饵吸引凶手，虽然成功击毙嫌疑犯艾迪，却也导致克莉斯特惨遭杀害。 艾迪一案使斯坦得到警署嘉奖，顺利升职，不过他的心中始终对遇害少女怀有愧疚，并且此案背后似乎另有隐情。心中承受巨大内疚之情的斯坦沉溺酒精，愈加孤僻。五年后，类似案件再次出现，凶手似乎有意以斯坦为目标发出赤裸裸的挑战。斯坦不仅要面对这个狡猾且智商极高的对手，更要面对长久以来困扰自己的心魔……。该剧讲述了苏北贫家女茉莉如何被上海滩娱乐业霸主洪承礼打造成大明星，后来又是如何“变身”男人用智慧和勇气惩治上海滩奸逆官商的故事。。
