故事发生在明朝年间，四海（陈锦鸿 饰）是杀人不眨眼的刽子手，和江湖郎中水如尘（谢天华 饰）结为义兄弟，两人一同踏上旅程，在误打误撞之中来到了一座名为昌隆的小镇之中。昌隆镇不大，处处洋溢着欢乐的气氛，然而，在这轻松而又平和的表面之下，隐藏着激烈汹涌的暗流，埋葬着不为人知的秘密。 在镇上，四海和水如尘遇见了镇上的首富霍天命（岳华 饰）和他的女儿霍倩瑶（廖碧儿 饰）。在阴差阳错之中，四海和霍倩瑶竟然结为了夫妻。镇上接连发生了数起命案，搅得人心惶惶，四海和水如尘开始了对案件的调查，却发现镇上发生的一切，和他们两人有着千丝万缕的关联。。Looking for work, Aaron comes across a cryptic online ad: “$1,000 for the day. Filming service. Discretion is appreciated.” Low on cash and full of naiveté, he decides to go for it.
