《阿德拉尔日记》根据斯蒂芬·埃利奥特的回忆录改编，弗兰科在片中扮演这位作家，他记录下了一起谋杀案的审判过程，这就是发生在2007年的著名程序员、Linux操作系统下ReiserFS文件系统开发者Hans Reiser的杀妻案。审查过程中，Reiser的好友，也是他妻子的前情人Sean Sturgeon承认自己曾经杀害过8个人，但这当中并不包括Reiser的妻子。这起错综复杂的杀妻案令人想起了影片《肖申克的救赎》。。Morse finds himself the subject of a murder investigation when his friend, Beryl Newsome, is murdered at a rehearsal of the Magic Flute and he foolishly touches the murder weapon.
