Comedy about the proverbial genie who comes out of a bottle (a table lamp in this instance) to serve his new master. The only problem is that instead of helping his master, the genie (Burl Ives) tends to get his master (Tony Randall) into more predicaments than he gets him out of.。一个是傲慢的太子，另一个是老实的状元郎，皇帝很公平，让两人同时出发，谁先把和平书送到番邦就重赏，太子自以为是，一路捉弄小状元，可正真的危险还远不止这些，小状元一路过关斩将，最后是谁先到达番邦，完成使命呢？。
