前作で福島に転校していったてつちんの「2年で帰ってくる」という約束が物語の軸となる。直ちゃんが約束は嘘であるとわかっていた一方で、信じて待っているきんべと山ちょ。ただ純粋だった2年前とは少し異なる5年生の夏休みが描かれる。。A TV producer has gotten the idea of developing a movie based off of the events of Monk's capture of Steve Wagner in "Mr. Monk and the Astronaut."。
