This film is about the complexities - both political and personal,...。一九五五年，新婚不久就失去丈夫的徐慧真，继承祖产，当了小酒馆的老板。为了小酒馆的经营，徐慧真经历了很多坎坷。在“公私合营”、“大跃进”、“三年自然灾害”、“文革”等不同历史时期，徐慧真几次当经理，几次被撤职，但她始终坚守自己的经营理念，不管遇到任何困难不曾改变。一九七九年，改革春风吹来，小酒馆重新回到徐慧真的手里，并再一次焕发青春。改革开放后的三十年中，徐慧真又带领身边的人，发家致富，走向小康。小酒馆的常客们有钱了以后，有些人思想随之发生了变化，但徐慧真的道德观和价值观没有变，在她的身上，善与恶，美与丑总是那么鲜明。。
